Composite Fencing Frequently Asked Questions
How to install composite fence panels?
Our composite fence panels are incredibly lightweight, which makes them easy to handle and lift. And better yet, you only need a few basic tools to install them, including:
- A spirit level to ensure every composite fence panel and post is level
- An adjustable spanner to tighten the bolts up
- A pen or pencil to mark out where the bolts need to go (this makes drilling easier!)
- A drill with an 8mm drill bit for fixing into timber decking or an 8mm masonry drill bit for concrete or stone
At Charles and Ivy, we supply composite fence panels for existing concrete posts and with aluminium and composite posts, which is ideal if you’ve not got existing fence posts in your garden. If you’re opting for new posts, watch our how-to-install video that talks you through the installation process in a few simple steps.

How to install composite fence panels?
A composite fence panel is constructed from a combination of recycled plastic and reclaimed wood fibres, providing amazing durability and longevity.
Since composite fencing is made from recycled materials, our range of products are an excellent choice for eco-conscious homeowners who are eager to enhance their property while reducing their environmental footprint. They go through a process known as ‘co-extrusion’ which involves melting the wood fibres and plastic together and moulding them into the shape of composite fence panels.
To see some examples of our composite fencing and how they can transform your outdoor area, check out our dedicated blog.
Why choose composite fence panels?
Our composite fence panels are available in 11 premium colours.
Thanks to their lightweight characteristics, composite fence panels are interchangeable and quick and easy to install.
Incredibly strong and durable, composite panels should easily last 20 years. Supplied with a 20-year warranty as standard, you’re guaranteed long-lasting results with a composite fence system from Charles and Ivy! Unlike a traditional wooden fence panel where water can penetrate the core, our composite fences are resistant to rot and mould, which reduces the need for replacements.
Our composite fencing is designed to outperform the British weather. It resists moisture, which is often a concern in areas prone to rain and humidity, and can withstand strong winds and temperature fluctuations.
In terms of maintaining your fence panels, composite is a material that requires very little upkeep. Occasionally cleaning your fence panels is enough to keep them looking as good as new!
